Here is all the ins outs of the transfer window for 09/10 season only english premier league spl coming soon.
We take a look at the steals and dud deals of this year's transfer window, with Jack Wilshere's loan move from Arsenal to Bolton among those to catch the eye.
Adam Johnson (Middlesbrough to Manchester City, £7m) - The England U21 winger has been chased by a host of Premier League clubs since Boro's relegation last season and the fee City eventually stumped up for him reflects that. Will fit in well with City's forward thinking and should make the left flank position his own. If so, he may even push for full international honours before too long.
Jack Wilshere (Arsenal to Bolton, loan) - The most exciting English prospect for years should get more playing time at the Reebok than at the Emirates, which is just what he needs at the age of 18. Owen Coyle, a purveyor of the passing game, will let Wilshere play his natural game and in doing so Bolton may even become an attractive side to watch.
Landon Donovan (LA Galaxy to Everton, loan) - It may only be a 10-week loan until the start of the MLS season, but Donovan is just about the only player to move this month who has actually had an impact. The American has started each of Everton's five matches since his arrival, scoring once, helping the Toffees on an impressive run of form.
Maxi Rodriguez (Atletico Madrid to Liverpool, £1.5m) - Few fans were excited by Rodriguez's arrival - mainly because it showed how little money the club have to spend - but the Argentine winger is precisely what Liverpool need. He should provide much-needed creativity from wide areas and may prove a very clever free pick-up by Rafa Benitez.
Victor Moses (Crystal Palace to Wigan, £2.5m)- The England U19 striker was linked with everyone from Nottingham Forest to Barcelona, but it was Wigan who won the race for his signature on deadline day, taking advantage of Palace's financial woes to secure him for a cut-price £2.5m. Should add flair and dynamism up front.
WORST
Amr Zaki (Zamalek to Hull City) - The Egypt striker hardly covered himself in glory during his time at Wigan, where his then manager Steve Bruce went as far as to label him the most unprofessional person he had ever worked with. Phil Brown will have his hands full.
Benni McCarthy (Blackburn to West Ham) - Having been turned down by Eidur Gudjohnsen and Ruud van Nistelrooy, the Hammers had to settle for the South African, who is short of form and will struggle to justify his whopping £38,000 a week deal which, for a cash-strapped club, seems rather a lot of money.
Mido (Middlesbrough to West Ham) - Mido will cost West Ham a fraction of that - a mere £1,000 a week, less than a plumber - yet with six other strikers to compete with at Upton Park, it is difficult to see how the Egyptian, who said he had made financial sacrifices to "play more football", will fulfil his ambition.
Patrick Vieira - (Internazionale to Manchester City, free) - There can be no doubt that Vieira was once a Premier League great, but he is far from the player he was during his time at Arsenal. He may add some experience on the pitch, but if he is not on it - and considering he was not good enough to get in Internazionale's team earlier this season, he may struggle for playing time at City - his impact will be limited.
Sol Campbell (free agent to Arsenal) - Another veteran looking for one last hurrah in the Premier League, Campbell represents a risk for Arsenal, even though he did not cost a penny. Another 'episode' at Notts County proved it's anyone's guess as to what is going on in Sol's head and the last thing Arsene Wenger needs at the Emirates is a fragile mind. William Gallas is still there, after all.
