Transfers man city & celtic...

Transfer
News

City boss Roberto Mancini is seemingly keen for the future of the
£32.5 million British record signing to be sorted before the beginning
of the Premier League campaign as he tries to whittle down his 37-man
first team squad.

A source close to Robinho reportedly told ESPN Soccernet: "Manchester
City have asked Robinho to come back and report on August 5, the
player has no choice, even though he wants to stay with Santos.

"He loves the life style, the football, and the beach. He doesn't want
to swap that for the Manchester rain! There was an offer from Turkey,
but it wasn't enough money for City, and in any case could you see
Robinho going to Turkey? Hardly. He wants to be back in Santos.

"That is his hometown, they love him there, he walks down the street
and he is the biggest celebrity in town, and after training he's
straight to the beach. After a game, he's back on the beach. The
football is great for him, he can show off his skills.

"With City he is expected to run for 90 minutes, if they pick him,
that is," the source added. "He might be tempted to play for a club in
London, though, if anyone could afford his wages, but they couldn't.

"So, the big question is what do City do with Robinho, what can they
do with him? Having invested so much money in the player it is a
tricky problem for them."

Robinho has been on loan at Brazilian outfit Santos since January and
huge doubts remain as to whether he will ever pull on a City shirt
again.

More on Ireland-
"Roberto Mancini: It's up to Stephen Ireland to prove that he has a
future with Manchester City"
Roberto Mancini has informed Stephen Ireland that he has until the
start of the Premier League season to prove that he belongs with
Manchester City.

The 23-year-old believed that he would be dropped from the Italians
25-man squad for the upcoming season, but Mancini insists that Ireland
can still earn a spot on his team despite his poor pre-season thus
far.

Right now I dont know who will miss out. I have not decided anything
about Stephen Ireland, Mancini told The Daily Star.

There has been no problem with him on the tour. I dont know how its
possible for him to think anything other than that he has a chance of
a future here because I havent decided.

It is up to him to prove himself to me.

I made Stephen captain for the game on Sunday so that shows I still
have belief in him.

New Premier League regulations require a club to name a maximum of 25
players, leaving Mancini to question whether players like Ireland and
Craig Bellamy will make the squad for the upcoming season.

We have 30 players, maybe more, and we have to get it down to 25
before the end of August.

So it is clear that some of the players we have here are going to be
left off that list. I am not sure yet if one of those will be Craig
Bellamy.

At this moment it is impossible to know which players will be on that
final list.

More City news-

By Richard Parry(Goal.com)

Having been asked how Roberto Mancini should look to strengthen his
Manchester City side this summer, YOU, the fans, have responded in
numbers.

35.23 per cent of you feel that the current first team at Eastlands is
more than capable of achieving their goals this season.

Having already secured the services of Jerome Boateng, David Silva,
Yaya Toure, and Aleksandar Kolarov this summer, you have called on the
Manchester outfit to invest in youth development, as opposed to
strengthening the first team.

STRIKING CREDENTIALS

"We should have kept [Daniel] Sturridge, so another young striker
would be good. Connor Wickham?"

Craig | Salford

One player mooted as a potential signing is Ipswich Town's prodigy
Connor Wickham.

The 17-year-old striker has scored nine goals in 13 matches for the
England Under-17s, and many of you feel that the promising forward
would be a great addition to the squad.

CASE FOR DEFENCE
"Defender - Chiellini Need a centre-back to partner Toure. Lescott is
unreliable. Chiellini could be an excellent signing."

Hassan | England

Nevertheless, 30.54 per cent of you feel that the Italian tactician
should look to bolster his defensive options, with countryman Giorgio
Chiellini a name suggested.

The versatile 25-year-old has been a consistent performer for
Juventus, and with 32 international caps under his belt, could offer
an added level of experience to the City backline.

FORWARD THINKING
"We do need a new forward and Balotelli may be the answer. How many of
City's 'many' forwards are really good? Tevez and Adebayor. Bellamy is
a winger nowadays and Robinho will not stay at the club."

CTID | Manchester

Meanwhile, 15.44 per cent of you would like to see Mancini acquire an
additional striker, with Mario Balotelli touted as a strong candidate.

The Inter forward is widely expected to join Manchester City, and you
feel that the 19-year-old may just be the ideal man to bolster the
club's attacking line.

MAN IN THE MIDDLE
"Ramires from Benfica should be brought to Eastlands."

Obafemi | Naija

Somewhat surprisingly, considering the abundance of talent available
to Mancini, 17.28 per cent of you would like to see a midfielder
arrive, with Ramires mooted as a potential target.

Some of you feel that the Brazilian, who has made 16 appearances for
his country, would be an ideal partner for Yaya Toure, should City
look to strengthen their central core further this summer.

So there you have it, the richest club in world football, and the
majority of the fans are looking to the future, and more importantly,
ready to put away the cheque book.

Celtic Transfer news-

"New signing Efrain Juarez - 'I would play in goal for Celtic'"

New Celtic signing Efrain Juarez is prepared to play in any position
for his new manager Neil Lennon as long as he makes it into the Hoops'
first XI. Juarez, who joined the club from Mexican side UNAM Pumas,
says that he will let Lennon decide where his best position is as he
doesnt even know himself. "I dont know [what my best position is]," he
said when asked where he would like to play during his introduction to
the media at Celtic Park on Monday. "From right-back or midfield is
the same. I always work for the starting XI and for the good of the
team. "To represent these colours, I would play in goal." The Mexico
international has received clearance to play in Celtic's crucial
Champions League qualifier against Braga on Wednesday night and admits
he can't wait to get started with his new club. "I'm very excited [to
join Celtic]," Juarez added. "My agent told me Celtic were interested
and I didn't have to think twice. I said 'I'll sign a deal with this
team'. I admire the values of the club, it's one of the most important
clubs in Europe.

"I remember the final against Porto in Sevilla. It was amazing, they
are amazing fans. Seventy-thousand fans went to Sevilla. "I met some
fans outside and their passion is important. I tell you, it's amazing
that 70,000 supporters travelled. Only a few clubs would have this
kind of support follow them all over the world. It's a very famous
club in Mexico. "It's a big club, a historic club, not only in
Scotland but Europe and the world." Our provides the best breaking
